Like grains of sand on an endless beach, the waves tumble them about, change them, bind them, and tear them apart. Each grain of sand is not a rarity of it's kind: it belongs to a certain group but has the inevitable bumps and bruises that makes it stand alone. The relentless, everlasting waves push and pull and move them all about. There are some specks that remain linked to the same surrounding particles for all eternity; then there are others that move and freely float with every receding tide.

But on this beach there was also a pearl. yet it remains no longer.
