I closed the driver's side door of my wonderful minivan and took a deep breath.

Lights.
Nonstop motion for a solid five hours. Giving orders and directions and recommendations, delagating jobs and things to do all around. The Boss- that was me.
Lights, camera.
Backstage, onstage, upstage, the final preparations. Bring that here, move this there, but don't move these. Another person asking to help with every minute. I kept it together.
Lights, cameras.
Reassuring hugs and everything's okay. Are we ready? A dash around to ease my mind. Everything set. Do you need anything? Any more questions? The last speech:
have a good time
be funny
go with the flow
be good
do not get me in trouble

Lights, camera, action.
She speaks to a seas of smiles of friends of classmates of strangers.
And so it went. And it went well.
The crowd alive with energy and anticipation, with joy and spirit.
They made every glitch, every stall, every slight issue, passable and forgotten.
The show went on. and it went on well.

I put the van into drive and rolled away from the brightly lit, empty auditorium.
