The uniform white that blanketed the world upon my waking inspired me to do a bit of cleaning myself this morning. Through the miscellaneous college forms and pink gift bag that still contains 2 of the 3 surprise smile-invoking presents, behind the out of tune instrument and colored pencils- I found my old white board, radiating summer with it's pale sunflower and light blue sky decoration, unused since it fell from my wall many months ago. On this neglected message board remained a few broken words and notes to myself but one perfectly legible phrase caught my eye.
.............curving along the very bottom rim one line,
read:

Lauren, my love.. you're more beautiful than a spring flower growing out of a still puddle.

I had forgotten that our city girl had, for no reason at all, left this in my room last winter, or spring it may have been. and well, it brought a smile to my exhausted face and made my heart flutter just a bit- exactly as it had done less than a year ago.

that city girl sure does have a way with words
