ruuuuuuuummmm mmmmmmm mmbbble.
boooooooooooooooommmm mmmmmmmmmmm.
Those aren't fireworks!!! (which was plausible because they're legal here)
IT'S THUNDER
.
And so I ran to the window and peered thorough a crack in the shutters. Indeed it was: a real, true, Midwest evening thunderstorm. Now, you all know that this certain incident made more excited than anything else that could have possible happened on this trip. unless I was spontaneously swept off my feet by a handsome boy who I used to know... or maybe not. THAT may have been a little more exciting than this evening thunderstorm However, point being... I was happy.
I opened the door and whoosh, I was hit by a gust of wind that was followed by another and another. Windy weather and falling rain. Pitter patter it fell in spits. The street light just feet from the balcony on which I stood illuminated the steadily falling drops underneath its umbrella of faded yellow light.
.
One large drop splattered on my arm and the sky began to release drops larger and larger. I shuffled back a few steps to rest below the protection of a welcome awning.
,
Lightening spit the horizon before me and illuminated the entire sky. I was high enough above the rest of the city that I could look to my left, right, or straight ahead and see the clouds release their electricity upon the Earth.

and so I watched with eager eyes.
